Kara Humphrey

-a wandering photographer-

What can I expect from a photo experience with Kara Humphrey?!

A good time! Haha, while that is what I aim for, that isn't all that goes into a session. After you contact me about a session, we will discuss your needs and desires and choose the best type of session and collection for you. Through correspondence, we will plan the day/time/location of your session, and I will fill you in on everything that you need to know. We will discuss how to plan for your session, how to dress, and what to bring, if anything! Usually, in the week prior to your session, I will contact you to finalize our plans and tie up any loose ends. Clients can contact me through Facebook, email, and text!

What should I wear to my photo session?!

Oh... my favorite part! You can read more about my suggestions for What to Wear here. You can also look on my Pinterest board 'What to Wear' for some ideas. Also, look through the galleries and you will see some GREAT examples of how to coordinate!

Where will we go for our photo session?!

Wait, maybe this is my favorite part?? I loooove driving around looking for locations. I have spots all over town! From Galveston to The Woodlands, Richmond to Kingwood. I also have many types of locations: natural, architectural, beach, industrial... it all depends on what you're looking for. If you don't know, that's fine! You can look through the galleries and make notes about what you like. I can also make suggestions. Most of the locations shown in my galleries are available. If I don't already have a location that will work for you, I will do my best to find one! Also, travel fees may apply to further locations. Read more here about our locations.

What about props?!

I don't like to overwhelm the photo or people with props, but I do bring in minimal items for visual interest. I favor vintage items.. I just can't help it! You may see me drag around a rickety chair, or old ladder, or some vintage suitcases. I will also have you interact with the location that we choose! As we discuss your session, we will talk about props in further detail.

How do I get my photos after our session?!

Usually, within 2 weeks (unless otherwise discussed), you will receive an email from me with a link to your gallery. I use a program called PASS, and I love it. I send you a link, and you can view, share, and even download your images from there! You will even be able to order your prints from there! And, how cool is this, you can download an app and have your photos right on your phone... I mean..... whaaaaat? If, for some reason, you need a different option, this can be discussed. If you have already received this link and need assistance downloading, check here!

What happens of it's raining or bad weather the day of our session?

Good question. Being a mostly natural light photographer, I rely heavily (and am very picky) on the sun and weather. Of course, if it's raining, we won't be out in it. Unless... we've aimed for a rainy shoot, haha. Some overcast days are okay, and preferred. Sometimes, it's too overcast, and just dark and ugly. I love a good sunny/partly cloudy day. I will schedule sessions in the morning time and in the last few hours before sunset to take advantage of the best light. Have you heard of the golden hour.... mmmm yeah. I ask that you trust me if I say weather isn't conducive to our session, and I will always reschedule you with priority. In the event of a reschedule, I make the decision 2 hours prior to the session time. That way, you don't waste your time getting ready and traveling to the location. I have to use my best judgement AND look at the radar. Sometimes, we do cancel it because of the weather, and it turns out fine. Sometimes, we don't, and we get rained on, and have to reschedule anyway. Apparently, I'm not God, and have no control over the weather (still talking to Him about that one... a little control??), so we will make the best decision that we can!!!
